Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 18, 2026 · Last updated: August 18, 2026 · Version 2026-08-v1
This policy explains, in plain English, what information Recreation.city collects when parents and guardians use the marketplace, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and how you can control it.
1. Information you provide
Depending on how you use Recreation.city, you may give us:
- Your name
- Your email address
- A mobile number, if you choose to provide one
- Country, city or region
- ZIP or postcode and preferred search radius
- A child's age or age range
- A child's interests and activity preferences
- Activities you save
- Communication preferences
- The content of enquiries you send to providers, and messages you send to our support team
Only your email is needed for an account. Everything else is optional and improves the relevance of results.
2. Information collected automatically
When you use Recreation.city we may collect:
- Device and browser information
- IP address and the general location derived from it
- Search terms and filters used
- Marketplace interactions such as activity views and saved listings
- Clicks on booking or provider links
- Referral source and UTM parameters
- Cookies or similar technologies, as described in the Cookie Policy
Precise device location is only collected if you use "Use my location" and your browser permission is granted. You can revoke that permission at any time.
3. How Recreation.city uses information
- Operating the marketplace and your account
- Showing activities near you and personalising recommendations
- Improving search relevance and saving your preferences
- Measuring marketplace demand and producing aggregated insights for businesses
- Marketplace analytics and product improvement
- Fraud prevention, abuse prevention and platform security
- Customer support
- Sending communications you have requested or consented to
4. How we use aggregated marketplace demand
Recreation.city may combine marketplace activity into aggregated statistics, such as the number of parents in a city or general area who have shown interest in a category of activity.
Activity businesses may see aggregated information such as "100+ parents nearby are interested in swimming." Aggregated reporting is how businesses understand local demand.
Businesses never receive parent names, parent email addresses, parent phone numbers, child identities, individual parent profiles, or downloadable parent audience lists.
Recreation.city applies a minimum audience threshold of 10 parents and other privacy protections, and withholds figures below that threshold, to reduce the risk of identifying an individual from aggregated statistics.
Aggregated demand is a count, not a list. There is no product surface, export or API that returns parent records to a business.
5. Advertising and sponsored content
Businesses may pay Recreation.city to promote their activities to relevant audiences. Recreation.city controls campaign delivery: the advertiser describes who the promotion is for, and we decide which parents see it.
Advertisers receive aggregated campaign metrics only, such as impressions, clicks, enquiries, booking clicks and campaign reach. They do not receive the underlying audience.
Sponsored listings are identified as sponsored or promoted content wherever they appear.
6. When information is shared with a business
General browsing, saved activities and audience membership do not reveal your identity to a business.
Your information is shared with a specific provider when you intentionally take an action such as:
- Send Enquiry
- Request Information
- Request Trial
- Request Callback
- Join Waitlist
- Book
Before you submit one of these actions, the screen tells you which provider will receive your details and what will be sent.
7. Service providers
Recreation.city uses technology providers for legitimate operational purposes including hosting, authentication, email delivery, analytics, security, customer support and mapping. Providers act on our instructions and are limited to the purposes we set.
Providers currently in use: Supabase (database, authentication and secure hosting of account data); Cloudflare (application hosting, content delivery and network security).
We will update this list as the product changes. We do not sell personal information.
8. International users
Recreation.city supports the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Australia.
Information may be processed in any jurisdiction where Recreation.city or its service providers operate, which may be outside the country where you live. Where local law requires additional safeguards for a transfer, we put those in place before the transfer happens.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply. Subject to applicable law, you may be able to:
- Access the information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your information
- Request a copy of your information
- Withdraw marketing consent
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Manage cookies and similar technologies
- Close your account
You can exercise these controls from Privacy Choices, or by contacting privacy@recreation.city.
10. Account deletion
You can request deletion from Privacy Choices, or from Profile → Privacy → Delete Account when signed in.
When a deletion request is processed we deactivate the account, remove or de-identify personal information associated with it, and retain only what is needed for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution or a legal obligation. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify you may remain in marketplace reporting.
11. Data retention
Recreation.city retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, maintaining security, resolving disputes, and meeting applicable legal obligations. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, it is deleted or de-identified.
12. Children's privacy
Recreation.city is a service for parents and guardians searching for children's activities. Parent accounts are intended for adults, and we do not market Recreation.city accounts to young children.
Information relating to a child should be provided by a parent or guardian, and the product is designed to minimise it: an age or age range and interests are enough to personalise results.
If you believe a child has provided information to Recreation.city directly, contact privacy@recreation.city and we will remove it.
13. Marketing and service communications
Service communications are sent because you have an account or took an action — account security notices, enquiry confirmations, policy notices and other transactional messages. These cannot be turned off while your account is open.
Marketing communications include activity recommendations, promotions, weekend activity ideas, sponsored activities and marketplace offers. These are optional, are controlled separately from account creation, and every applicable marketing email includes an unsubscribe option.
14. Changes to this policy
We update this policy as the product changes. The current version and effective date are shown on this page, and material changes are communicated in the product or by email before they take effect.
